David Chan's Obituary
David Chan, age 99, passed away peacefully on April 12, 2025, in San Jose, California, surrounded by his loving family. Born on August 12, 1925, in China, David lived a long and fulfilling life, marked by hard work, family devotion, and a gentle spirit.
In 1949, David moved to Hong Kong with his wife, Tammy, and their daughter, Frandy. There, he took over his father's knitting factory and, through his dedication and business acumen, built a successful garment manufacturing business. During their time in Hong Kong, David and Tammy were blessed with four more daughters and two more sons. After his retirement, David embarked on a new chapter, moving to the United States to be closer to his children and grandchildren. He cherished this time, finding immense joy in family gatherings and watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow.
David was a devoted husband to his wife, Tammy, with whom he shared an incredible 80 years of marriage. Their enduring love was an inspiration to all who knew them. He is survived by his loving wife, Tammy, and his children and their spouses: Wai Fat and Shui Mei, Wai Shun (Peter) and Alice, Frandy and Fredrick, Christina and Sam, Anny, Catherine, and his son-in-law, Shu Chun. He is also survived by his brother, Tommy Chan, and his sister, Agnes Ho, as well as six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. David was predeceased by his beloved daughter, May.
David will be remembered for his kindness, his quiet strength, and his deep love for his family. He leaves behind a legacy of perseverance and commitment.
Friends and family are invited to attend a funeral service on June 8, 2025, at 12:00 PM, followed by a burial at 2:00 PM, at Chapel of the Chimes Hayward, located at 32992 Mission Blvd., Hayward, CA.
