David Stuart Cameron
May 4, 1942 - July 30, 2021
Former, long-time San Leandro resident Dave Cameron passed away July 30, 2021 in Reno, NV. Dave grew up with his parents Thelma and Donald and sisters Donna, Sandra and Linda. He played Varsity Football at San Leandro High School where he met his wife Beverly who was Head Cheerleader. He earned an AA, Fire Science from Chabot College and a BA, Political Science from Cal State Hayward and served in the National Guard.
Dave worked his way up the ranks during his 30-year career from Firefighter at San Leandro Fire Department to Acting Deputy Chief of Alameda County Fire. Dave earned several medals at the annual Fireman's Olympics. He played softball, badminton, football, golfed, bowled and volunteer coached San Leandro Crusaders football teams for 20 years. His passions included his Shih Tzu dogs, John Wayne films, 1950-60’s music and cheering on the San Francisco 49ers as a season ticket holder.
In addition to his parents, Dave is predeceased by his sister Donna Munday and brothers-in-law James Munday and Donald Breitenbucher, sister and brother-in-law Marilyn and Rick Arteaga and parents-in-law Mildred and Howard Zangel and Jean and Howard Brown.
He is survived by his wife Beverly, daughter Kelly, son David Jr., (Stephanie), granddaughters Madison and McKenna, grandson David III, sisters Sandra Breitenbucher and Linda Hoff (Jay) and sister-in-law Barbara Miller (Don) and additional loving family. A memorial service will be held at a later date at Chapel of the Chimes, Hayward, CA. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests making donations to:
