David E. Calderon's Obituary
David Edward Calderon Resident of Milpitas Dec. 18, 1936-May 21, 2015David Edward Calderon passed away on Thursday in an accident on his way to Lake Tahoe. David touched everyone he encountered with his kindness and sense of humor. David was born in Redwood City, CA and graduated from Sequoia High School in 1955. He served in the National Guard from 1955-1958 in Sunnyvale and went to Fort Hunter Liggett for artillery training. David was a member of the Sheet Metal Workers’ Union of Northern California. He went on to own Capital Heating Co. in Oakland, California for the last 35 years. When asked when he was going to retire, he would reply, “Why would I want to do that?” He loved keeping people warm in the winter and cooling them in the summer. Dave was also known for his glorious copper work, which can be seen on buildings and homes throughout the Bay Area.Dave’s heart was huge – everyone he encountered knew what a kind hearted man he was. He loved making and sharing his fresh batch of salsa with neighbors and friends at the wholesale houses he frequented. He was known for feeding the stray cats in the neighborhood, along with the crows and pigeons. His sense of humor and love of life were infectious. He enjoyed a good joke and was quite a prankster!Always ready for an adventure, Dave obtained his private pilot’s license in the late 1970s and enjoyed nothing more than flying his Cherokee. He also loved to play golf with his buddies, bowling, and sport fishing with his children and grandchildren. But his true loves were his wife Patricia and his children and grandchildren. While caring for his wife, who suffered from Alzheimer’s Disease, they were often seen in the neighborhood taking walks. Everyone knew and loved them. He made friends wherever he went.David is preceded in death by his cherished wife Patricia of 44 years, and son, Kenneth Calderon. David is survived by his devoted daughters Lisa Freels (Bob) of San Ramon, and Traci Calderon of Seattle, WA, and loving sons Bill Calderon (Tish) of Turlock, CA, and David B.
