In Loving Memory of Danny Turner, 1942 – 2016 Danny Turner Oct.27, 1942 – Mar.30, 2016 Resident of Hayward formerly from Tracy and Castro ValleyDanny passed away peacefully at Saint Rose Hospital surrounded by his daughter Kimberly Turner-Laumea, son in law (Sam) Faailoa Laumea, grandson Xzander Turner-Laumea, brother Burl Nicholas Turner, sister in law Zeita Turner, and close family friends Melissa Turner, Jon Peacock, and Talyor Suydam.Danny was raised in Castro Valley by his two parents Josephine Turner and Wade H. Turner along with his other brother Wade H. Turner II. He also met Beverly Souza Turner who became his sister in law in years to come. He also has a two half siblings he reconnected with later in life Norma and David Kopf.Danny joined the Army at age 17. He attended basic training in Fort Riley Kansas and was sent on training missions in Korea. Upon returning to the states after his three years of service, he was honorably discharged as an E 4 Sergeant.General Motors was his first job after he married his first wife of 27 years, Donna Gonzales Turner (divorced). In 1968 he joined the Local 70 Teamsters Union where he worked out of the hall until he got hired on at Sea Land of Oakland, now Sea Logix. Danny remained employed there for 48 years and was the person with number one seniority until the day of his passing.In March 2015 Danny was hospitalized for several months due to a fall at work and other medical complications. In August 2015, after months of treatment and rehabilitation, he moved back to Hayward to live with his daughter. Danny completed all of his physical therapy appointments at Physiotherapy & Associates in Hayward where Mary, Steve, Bill, Billy ,Emily, Patty and Rena helped to get him walking with the assistance of a walker. Danny had an amazing nurse case manager, Yvonne Dotson, along with Suzanne Narushko Workers Compensation adjuster, who supported him and his daughter through the entire process.Before falling at work, Danny loved the Black Oaks Casino where he spent almost every Saturday night. Danny was also a huge heavy metal fan and attended hundreds of metal shows all over the Bay Area over the past 30 years. Danny’s favorite bands were Forbidden, Death Angel, and Suicidal Tendencies. Danny spent countless nights at heavy metal shows with his daughter, grandchildren, and close friends.After going to live with his daughter, Danny spent his remaining months surrounded by his family and close friends. Danny was able to attend family functions in and outside of the home and was able to make three trips to Black Oaks Casino. Danny’s quality of life before passing was the way he wanted it to be given his physical limitations. Danny enjoyed having daily contact with his daughter, his son-in-law, and his grandchildren. Danny maintained all of his mental capacities until his last hospitalization on March 26, 2016.Danny is also survived by his granddaughter, Haileyrae Turner-Abara, and several nieces and nephews.Viewing to be held at The Chapel of the Chimes in Hayward (32992 Mission Boulevard, Hayward, CA 94544) on April 8, 2016 from 5pm-9pm. Services and celebration of Danny’s life will be held at the Chapel of the Chimes in Hayward (32992 Mission Boulevard, Hayward, CA 94544) on April 9, 2016 from 5pm -9pm. Danny’s final ride, in a motorcycle procession around the cemetery grounds, will be around 6 pm with a reception to follow. Interment for Danny will be in the Turner-Helm Cemetery to take place at a later date.
