Damisa J. Gomez's Obituary
Damisa Gomez was born on March 27, 1934 in Hayward California. She was delivered at home by her grandmother Antonia Reyes to Louis and Carmela Reyes, the third of seven children. She graduated from Hayward high school where she met her husband of 67 years Alfred Gomez.
Damisa worked for Western Union in Oakland and as a toll collector and sergeant at the Bay Bridge and Dumbarton Bridge, where she retired from. She was active in her church as a lector, eucharistic minister and CCD teacher. Damisa also hosted prayer groups for the church community in her home for over 40 years.
Her love for cooking and skills in the kitchen were known by all who were blessed to have eaten her food, cookies and cakes. She was always willing to learn and test new recipes and teach others who wanted to learn her recipes. Her home was the center of family holidays, not just for her cooking, but as gracious host who loved to decorate for the occasion and maintain family traditions.
Damisa is survived by her sister Antonette, husband Alfred and their six children, Corrine, Alfred, Salvador, Randall, Gina, and Nick as well as her 16 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.
