Cynthia Susan Smith's Obituary
Cindy "Cindy" S. Smith, 37 passed away at her home on Friday, August 16, 2002. She was the "Sunshine" in the lives of her parents, family, friends and patients. Her passion was caring for the elderly, the mentally ill and the developmentally disabled. She began her health care career of 20 years as a Certified Nursing Assistant/Home Health Aide. She worked in that capacity in the Palo Alto, California area until she graduated from Mission College as a Psychiatric Technician in 1998.She was employed in the Psychiatric field at John George Psychiatric Pavilion, Fremont BHC Hospital, Crestwood Geriatric Psych and most recently caring for the Developmentally Disabled in San Jose, California.She was a patient advocate with a goal of bringing a little sunshine into their lives with her gift of humor and compassion. She stood up for those she cared for, not caring what others would think.Cindy was born in Oakland, California on December 10, 1964 and lived her entire life in Fremont, California. She died in her sleep at her home. Cindy was a loving daughter, sister, aunt and sister-in-law. She is survived by her parents, Wally and Virginia Smith of Fremont, California; brother, Martin Smith of Concord, California; five nieces; one nephew; six aunts and uncles and 16 cousins.Cindy was a true friend to those she cared about and always thoughtful and respectful to her family and friends, which she demonstrated with frequent strong hugs.Cindy was an avid Raiders fan and a lover of cats. She enjoyed swimming, camping, amusement parks, snow skiing and sky diving. She had a brave heart and always volunteered to go first.Family and Friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service on Friday, August 23, 2002 at 1:30 p.m. at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church; 38451 Fremont Boulevard, Fremont, CA 94536 across from Washington High School. A Private Inurnment will be held at a later date at Chapel of the Chimes Memorial Park; 32992 Mission Boulevard, Hayward, CA 94544.The family has requested in lieu of flowers that donations be sent in her memory to Good Shepherd Lutheran Home; 1335 Mowry Avenue, Fremont, CA 94536.CHAPEL OF THE CHIMES MEMORIAL PARK & FUNERAL HOME -HAYWARD, CA (510) 471-3363."SERVICE OF MARKED DISTINCTION"
