In Loving Memory - CORAZON DECASTRO GUIMAN November 10th, 1939 - May 27th, 2026
It is with deep sadness that the family of Corazon DeCastro Guiman announces her passing. Surrounded by her family, she passed away peacefully in her home on May 27th, 2026, at the age of 86. Born on November 10th, 1939, in Imus, Cavite, Corazon lived a life marked by love, kindness, and dedication to her family and community. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend of many, touching countless lives through her generosity, warmth, and compassion. Raised by her aunts in the Philippines, she graduated from high school and entered a trade school. There, she trained and received her certification to become a seamstress. She met Donato O. Guiman in 1955, and they married on July 8th, 1962. As Donato served in the Navy, they traveled to several naval stations for his work. The first naval station was in San Diego, California, where Cynthia was born. Next, they journeyed onto Brunswick, Georgia, where Jesse Gerald was born. Boston, Massachusetts was their third stop where Maynard was born. And finally, their adventures took them to Guam, where Gail was born. Their journey inspired their children’s names (Cynthia - California, Gerald - Georgia, Maynard - Massachusetts, Gail - Guam).
Family was the center of Corazon's life. She is survived by her four children: Cynthia, Jesse, Maynard, and Gail, daughter-in-law; Cecilia and sons-in-law; Fredric and Anthony, and her seven amazing grandchildren: Lauryn, Joshua, Jeremy, Justin, Madisyn, Syanna, and Alexia. She is also survived by her beautiful sister-in-law, Mary DeCastro, and her wonderful nieces: Rexy, Malen, May, MaryAnne, and Joan. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Donato O. Guiman; her brother, Teofisto Jr.; her sisters, Patricia and Dolores; and her parents, Teofisto Sr. and Azucena. Her family is at peace knowing she is reunited with all of them. Those who knew Corazon will remember her for her smile, generosity, and willingness to help others. She loved to garden, the front yard of her house was decorated with beautiful red rose bushes and in the backyard, there were always delicious tomatoes, plums, apples, chayotes, persimmons, avocados, and lemons. In the Union City and Fremont communities, she was known for sewing dresses and other clothes for several Fil-Am community members as well as for giving haircuts and perms to friends and neighbors. Prior to her retirement, she worked for a company called Signetics as an assembler, which was later acquired by Philips Semiconductors. She stayed with this company for 21 years until her retirement. Over the past six years, she had grown a love for baseball...and for none other than her favorite team, the San Francisco Giants. Her legacy of love and strength will continue to live on through all who were fortunate enough to know her. Corazon will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
