Conchita Yumol Ballelos' Obituary
Conchita (“Babes”) Yumol Ballelos died peacefully in her home at the age of 82 on Saturday, August 31, 2024. Beloved mother, preceded in death by her husband Rodolfo, leaves behind her daughter and spouse Ruchille (JayJay) Ruiz, son Dr. Roderick Ballelos, and two grandchildren, Jianna Ruiz and Jarred Ruiz, whom she was affectionally known as “Chita”.
Conchita was born in Dampulan Jaen, Nueva Ecija, Philippines to Filipe Yumol and Fidela De Guzman. She was raised in the province along with her siblings Pastor, Celestina, Mario, Marcelino and Fidel. She received her college degree in Education from the University of the East (UE) in Manila, Philippines. While working in the gift shop of the Hotel Pilipinas, she met a ‘bellboy’ named Rodolfo. After being serenaded with Elvis songs, their love story began and they were married on December 9, 1973—recently celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary in December 2023.
Conchita and Rodolfo immigrated to the United States in 1974 and started their new life in California raising their two children, Ruchille and Roderick in Union City, Ca. She worked as a Laboratory Supervisor (Plant Tissue Culture) at Sunnyside Nurseries in Hayward, CA for many years until she found a passion for elderly care and eventually retired as Director of Activities from Windsor Post Acute Care in Hayward, Ca.
Conchita loved her life and family and made sure precious moments and memories were “caught on VHS”. If she wasn’t holding a VHS Recorder on her shoulder, she was in the kitchen cooking up a feast. Some of her favorite dishes were Lechon, Bibingka, Kutchinta, Butsi, and a family favorite, Ginataan (Bilo Bilo). She had an unending generosity that could be felt by family and friends, and she had a strong fighting spirit even though some health battles. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She leaves behind many cousins, friends, nieces, and nephews whom she deeply cared for. Always putting others needs before her own, she lived a wonderful life full of love and she will be greatly missed.
Eternal rest grant unto her soul, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her. May she rest in peace...Amen.
