Clyde David Fullerton's Obituary
Fullerton Feb. 23, 1919 – June 7, 2008 Former resident of Hayward 89, of San Ramon, formerly of Hayward, passed away peacefully in his sleep in his daughter’s home on Saturday, June 7, 2008. He was born February 23, 1919 in Huntington, West Virginia to William Virgil Peck Fullerton, Sr. and Mabel Carie (Beckner) Fullerton. He was the fifth of six children and was raised by his Aunt Ina and Uncle Bob Knight. He attended schools in Huntington, and graduated from Huntington High School in 1937. Clyde eloped with Mary Rebecca Ing on August 6, 1940 after they knew each other less than 2 days. They were married 52 years until her death in 1993. Together they had eight children. He served in the Navy from 1943 – 1946 and was stationed in Alameda, CA during World War II. Later he worked as a machinist for Bethlehem Steel and Peterbilt Motors, each for about 20 years. He retired from Peterbilt in 1985. Clyde is survived by his children and their spouses John and Jamie Fullerton of Grand-view, WA; Ralph and Becky Fullerton of Boise, ID; Richard and Kaye Fullerton of Wichita, KS; and Mary and Mike Crivello of San Ramon; 18 grandchildren, 5 great-grand children, a special cousin Muriel Melby, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, his brothers and sisters, and four children Karen Lynne Fullerton, Paul David Fullerton, Robert Knight Fullerton, and Margaret Anne Kirkwood. Viewing will be from 5:00 – 8:30 pm on Thursday, June 12 at Chapel of the Chimes, 32992 Mission Blvd., Hayward, CA. A funeral service will be held at Chapel of the Chimes on Friday, June 13 at 10:00am. Memorial gifts may be donated to Children’s Hospital, 747 52nd St., Oakland, CA 94609.
