I just heard recently that Christy had passed away. She may not use that name now, but that’s what I always called her. She was my next door neighbor when she and I were very young, on Polaris way in Livermore. I knew her as my playmate, as part of my earliest memories, but she moved when I was in about 4th grade (she was a year older than me). I wish I could have know her as an adult! Mom and I had a close relationship. We could easily spend hours on the phone talking about many things we had in common: books, TV, movies, craft projects, gift ideas, work, dragons, kitties…. the list can go on and on. The need for food was usually the point we had to say bye. “Paul’s signaling dinner’s ready, gotta go. Love you.” I know I have many moments ahead of me that I’ll wish I could run something by you or talk about the latest episode of one of our fairy tale shows. I’m going to miss seeing your new plastic canvas decorations, cool dragon finds, and art festival discoveries. I hope you know how much I looked forward to the times we’d get together. They were always the highlights of my year. I wish we had found time to come together more often. Love you so much Mom. I’m glad we shared all the things we did; it made our relationship special and will be a way for me to always remember you.
