Charlie James Moore's Obituary
It is with great sadness that we regret to announce the passing of Charlie James Moore. He will be forever loved and missed by his devoted family and friends.
Charlie James Moore was born in Texarkana, Arkansas on December 24, 1943, the second child of Charlie Moore and Ollive V. Moore. Four years later, Ollive V. married Andrew Livingston and together raise Charlie to be the man he became and his 2 sisters Minnie and Bobbie. Charlie accepted Christ, at an early age, joined Whitest Chapel Baptist Church of Camden, Arkansas and was baptized. His Stepfather taught him the simple things of life such as fishing, hunting, repairing vehicles and houses that would, later on, benefit the course of his life. He attended church regularly with his parents and learned early that prayer was beneficial in living in this world. He loved gospel music and especially, the Williams Brothers.
In 1962, after high school, he came to Oakland, California to find a "good job". He was not successful. In 1963, he decided to join the Army. After basic training, he was given his orders to go overseas. He thought he was going to Vietnam, but when he received his ticket, it was for Germany. He found out later that his mother was praying that he wouldn't have to go to Vietnam.
In 1966, he received an Honorable Discharged from the Army and decided to settle down in Oakland. He attended Bethel Baptist Church and soon found a job working at Nabisco Shredded Wheat in West Oakland. In early 1967, he met the love of his life, Betty Lee, who happen to be working there, also. In late 1967, he obtained a new job at Latchford Glass Company in San Leandro, CA. In early 1968, He asked Betty for her hand in marriage. They were married in June 1968. He moved to Hayward, California in 1975 where they raise their 2 sons, Mark and Nathan and he joined Palma Ceia Baptist Church. He excelled on his job to become a supervisor and retired with 36 years of service.
Charlie was an avid bowler, fisherman, loved to travel, and great supporter of the family business. Charlie was loved and respected as a kind, helpful and loving individual. His mother, father, stepfather, and 2 sisters preceded him in death. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Betty, children, Mark and Nathan (Lorelei), grandchildren, Mathias, Mateo, first cousins, Jackie Scott, Donald Mills, Nieces and Nephews, and a host of other cousins, nieces and nephews in Texas, coworkers and friends.
