Mr Charles Lee Smothers' Obituary
Charles Lee Smothers of Fremont, CA passed away in the early morning hours of August 14, 2025.
Charles was born November 15, 1942, in Arkansas. He was affectionately called ‘Charlie’ by his loved ones. Charles was the eldest of 12 children, and was greatly admired and adored by his younger siblings: Halloween Ross, Johnny Smothers, Brenda Anderson, Michael Conley, Glen Conley, Joyce Conley, Linda Meek, Cynthia Quarrels, Harrell Jr. Conley, Lee Conley, Reginald Conley. He excelled in sports such as football and baseball where he attended high school at Booker T, Washington High School in Jonesboro, Arkansas in 1960.
Immediately after high school, Charles enlisted in the US Navy in 1960. and was a part of the Flight Deck crew. While visiting his cousin in Oakland, California, he met Jane Davis, and later married her in 1963. Charles and Jane had three children: Stephen, Keith, and Deneen; four granddaughters: Keiondra Sightler (WA), Ja’Nai Smothers, and Kameila Smothers, and Donielle Smothers; and three great-grandsons: Kai Sightler, Noah Sightler, and Kareem Smothers.
