Charles S. Paugh, Jr.'s Obituary
Paugh, Charles S. Jr., 86, of San Lorenzo, California, passed away on Saturday, March 19, 2016 after a courageous battle trying to recover from being in a coma caused by a cardiac arrest on March 1. He was born January 18, 1930, in Youngstown, Ohio as the only child to Charles S. Sr. & Catherine M. Paugh. Charles father (Sr.) served in the military, and Charles Jr. followed in his father’s footsteps by enrolling into the United States Army once he graduated from Alameda High School in June of 1948. Charles Jr. military service time was four years including participating in the Korean War for over two years. After the military service commitment ended in July 1952, Charles Jr. spent his next 5 years as an Apprentice at the Alameda Naval Air Station working with his father (Sr.). While in Alameda in 1953, he met a young woman named Barbara Ann that would eventually be his wife and mother of his three children for 53 years until her passing from Cancer in 2006. Charles Jr. and his family lived in San Lorenzo, California since 1960 until the day of his passing. Charles Jr. worked at the Alameda Naval Air Station for 33 years until his early retirement in June 1985 where he retired as an Air Craft Engine Examiner. Charles Jr. had seven grandchildren and soon-to-be two greatgrandchildren during his life of 86 years. His hobbies included traveling (camping w/family and spending time with his wife at Monterey area and Lake Tahoe), movies, watching football on TV, fixing and repairing engines/cars, bowling, dominos (Mexican Train Style), and crossword puzzles. He loved meeting up with his friends to drink beer or glass of wine. He couldn’t resist chocolate either. Charles is predeceased by his grandfather Daniel, parents Charles Sr. & Catherine, wife Barbara Ann, brother-in-law(s) Bobby and Robert and sister-in-law Marilyn.Charles will be remembered by his three children Steven Charles (Margie) of Gilroy, Sandra Marie (Jimmy) and Shawn Robert (Lourdes) of Dublin, seven grandchildren (Michael W. Schenk-currently serving in the U.S. Navy, Kelly and Sarah Wickman, Stephanie and Andrea Paugh, Derek Burden and Brandon Charles Paugh), brother & sister-in-law (Richard and Shirley Jimenez), nephew(s) and niece(s) (Debbie Williamson, Tim Williamson (Karen), David Williamson, Richard Jimenez Jr. (Rhonda), Kathy Dickinson (Anne), and Chris Jimenez) and cousin(s) Jean Hann of Arizona and Virginia Hann of Florida.Charles was a dedicated man who took full responsibility in anything. A proud son, husband, father, grandfather, brother-in-law, uncle and cousin throughout his life and had no regrets. He is now in the Heavens reunited with his first love and wife after a ten year absence apart. Visitation will be held Thursday, March 31, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and funeral service (military style) Friday, April 1, 2016 starting at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel of the Chimes, 32992 Mission Blvd., Hayward, California 94544.
