Charles Arthur CastanedaJune 3, 1941– May 31, 2018Charles A. Castaneda 76, born on June 3, 1941 in Oakland, California surrounded by his loved ones, he went to the be with his Lord on May 31, 2018, in Tracy, California. He was a native of Hayward and was a resident at Brookdale Tracy at the time of his passing.Charles was born in Oakland by Juanita Feliciano and Albert Castaneda. He had 8 siblings. He graduated Hayward High School in 1965, went into the Marine Corp in 1958-1964, had three children. He worked as a warehouseman; Oakland Toy Company for 15 years and left in June 1977, Bonneville Administration in Washington and Montana June 1981 – June 1984 and moved back to Hayward and started NUMMI June 1985 and retired in June 2008.Charles and Myra were married for 34 years and they were truly partners in life. After the passing of his soulmate in 2005, he continued to live in Hayward until 2018. He was a funny, spontaneous gentleman comforting others. He was known for his cooking, the love of food, wearing sharp clothing, listening to his oldies, road trips with his dog, “Nena,” helping others in need, and visiting friends at the coffee shops.Charles is preceded in death of his wife, Myra Castaneda, his parents Juanita Feliciano and Albert Castaneda; sister Rose Martinez, along with his brothers; Albert Castaneda, Raymond Castaneda, Andrew Castaneda, and Ralph Castaneda.Charles is survived by his siblings, Alvin Castaneda of Fremont, Helen Cordero of Modesto, Kenneth Villegas of Pleasanton, and Esther Villegas of Nevada. As well as his beloved children; Lydia “Denise” Castaneda Cortez, Charles “Eric” Castaneda, Michelle Ramos; Step children; Debra Whetzel, Jeanette Souza, Ron Stiles, grandchildren; Esmeralda Carrillo, Victoria Carrillo, and step grandchildren; Jessica Souza, Jacob Whetzel, Jordan Whetzel, Sierra Stiles, and Jason Stiles, and step-great-grandchildren;, Madison Slagle, James Slagle, Wyatt Slagle, Corwin, and Everett, and adored several nieces and nephews.A private viewing will be held on Friday, June 8, 2018, from 4:30-5 pm and open to family and friends 5-9 pm at the Chapel of the Chimes, 32992 Mission Blvd., Hayward. Funeral services will be held at 11 am – 2:00 pm on Saturday, June 9, 2018, and directly after Charles will be laid to rest with his wife, Myra.Special Thanks to the staff at Tracy Brookdale.Dad was a blessing to all that he met and will forever be in our hearts.He who is kind to the poor lends to the LORD, and he will reward him for what he has done –Proverbs 19:17
