Cezar Buan's Obituary
It’s been said that a heart that is broken is a heart that’s been loved. When God called for another angel to come home, he left the hearts of so many- broken- because each of those hearts were so deeply loved by the selfless, patient, and charismatic, Cezar. Cezar A. Buan was born on November 3, 1934 in Pampanga, PI to Catalina and Felipe Buan. He was the fifth born of seven children and attended Holy Angel Academy High School in the Philippines. On November 18, 1962, he married the love of his life, Precy Pasion Buan at Porac Parish Church. He received his Bachelor’s of Science in Electrical Engineering from FEATI University in Manila, and began his career as an electrical engineer, shortly after. Cezar’s career took him to many different places, but he always came home to his beloved wife and five children. After living in places like the Philippines, Okinawa, San Francisco and Guam, Cezar and his family took the leap of faith to permanently move to the Bay Area. Being able to start a life in the U.S. was one of his greatest achievements. He wanted to give his five children more resources, exposure and opportunity than he had growing up. In 1987, his family settled down for good in Fremont, CA. Aside from being a devoted husband, father and career-man, he was also a faithful parishioner of St. Kevin’s Church in San Francisco, CA and Holy Spirit Church in Fremont, CA. He was a long-time member of the Filipino-American Association at Holy Spirit (President, 1978) and the Catherinians of Porac Association (President, 1987). He only knew one way of working, and that was to work diligently and honestly. And for 38 years, he did just that. In 1997, he was able to retire and enjoy more time with his growing family. His family—the center of his heart and soul—proclaim they are grateful for the teachings and values he instilled in their lives. When it came to his precious wife, his love never wavered. He was a good husband who yielded unconditionally, and forgave easily. Although each of his children were fortunate enough to have a special relationship and bond with their dad, they all had similar reflections of his love, personality and morale. He will be remembered as being generous yet frugal, showing them the way of blessing their families while teaching them the value of hard work. He will be remembered as being the life of the party (that he showed up to on time!) and always dependable for a good story or a couple of laughs. He will be remembered for his love of cooking, passion for music, and (more than) occasional trips to the casino. He will be remembered for being the trusted protector of his household, the glue that kept his family bound together through good times and hardships, and the most supportive and proud father and grandfather for his family. He took his final breath surrounded by his family on Sunday, February 26, 2017. He is survived by his wife, Precy Pasion Buan; his children and their spouses/ significant others, Evelyn Buan Megofna and Roland Cruz, Carolyn and Darwin Talosig, Lodie and Ron Santos, Joan and Allain Malimban, and Bernard Buan and Khoeun Son; his 10 grandchildren; his 2 great-grandsons; his brother, Alfred Buan; and his sister, Juanita Buan Deang. Memorial Services for Cezar Buan will be held on Saturday, March 11 and Sunday March 12, 2017 from 5:00-9:00pm at Chapel of the Chimes (32992 Mission Blvd, Hayward, CA 94544). The
