Cenobia Lillian Walker Quintanilla Sunrise 3/23/1930 – Sunset 3/5/2016Born the only child of Lena Lillian Hendericks and Inman Malcon Walker in Philadelphia, PA. She was the daughter of a seamstress and a hotel & bar owner. Cenobia grew up in North Philadelphia where she attended Simon Gratz High School. She excelled in academics and was on the swim team. Growing up, she belonged to many social clubs and once hosted an affair for Lena Horn and Duke Ellington. She was much loved and doted upon by her entire family.She married Raymond Gomez Quintanilla, of Guam, who was in the U.S. Navy. They had six children. During their marriage, they went to Guam for a few years and later returned to Philadelphia. During her life, she became a single mother and went to nursing school to become a nurse, and worked at Albert Einstein Medical Center.Most of her life, Cenobia was a homemaker. She believed in family and raised her children with unconditional love. Her life wasn’t easy but she was content in her condition no matter what. She made sure that her children received good educations and were exposed to the Arts, classical music and theater. Throughout the years, Cenobia lived with all of her children. She never remarried. She enjoyed her children and grandchildren and was there to give them support in their lives.Everyone that came into contact with Cenobia liked her immediately for her kind, humble and sweet Godly nature. Cenobia believed in simplicity and practiced humility throughout her life. She gave of herself so much and asked for nothing in return. She believed Jesus Christ was her Lord and Salvation.Cenobia lived the longest with her daughter Cynthia and her family. She helped Cynthia occasionally with her home-based Child Care Program. She enjoyed attending the Lifelong Adult Daycare Program where she socialized with other seniors. She also lived in the senior care homes owned by Cynthia.Cenobia leaves behind her children: Cenobia, Raymond, Virgil, Victoria, Cynthia, and Patricia; her grandchildren: Tony, Michael, DeMarco, Jonathan, JJ, Taylor, Ethan, Christopher, Victoria, Justin, and Monica; her son-in-laws Ben and Carl; her daughter-in-law Christina; and family in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.Rest in Eternal Peace, Mom. ~The Family ~
