Celina Romero Ynzunza's Obituary
Mrs. Celina “Sally” or “Chela” Ynzunza (ne Romero-Melendes) passed away peacefully in her home with her loving family by her side, on June 23, 2015 in Newark, CA at the age of 86. Sally is survived by her devoted husband of 64 years, Robert; children, Rob, Tom, Sharen and Karen; siblings, Lico, Lynda, David, and Carmen. She is preceded in death by her parents, Rose and Rudolfo, her brother Prospero and her son, Gary. Sally was born on February 6, 1929 in Pleasanton, TX to Rose and Rudolfo Melendes. Her home was San Antonio, Texas where she met, and married Robert Manuel Ynzunza, a Master Sargent in the U.S. Air Force, in 1951. Over the next 9 years, the couple welcomed 5 beautiful children into their home. Celina set about teaching them manners and providing unconditional love. Her children remember her as a kind, gentle and patient mother who encouraged them to pursue their dreams. She didn’t say much but when she did, EVERYONE listened. Sally was a generous and dedicated individual who loved her entire family, including her 10 grandkids and her 6 great-grandchildren, who all love and adore her dearly. She attended Mass at St. Edward’s Catholic Church on a regular basis, and practiced Yoga during her free time. Sally will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Sally’s life with a Visitation at Chapel of the Chimes Memorial Park and Funeral Home 32992 Mission Blvd. Hayward, CA 94544 on Monday, June 29, 2015 beginning at 5:00PM – 9:00PM, with a Vigil beginning at 7:00PM. A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 30, 2015 10:00 AM at Holy Spirit Catholic Church 37588 Fremont Blvd. Fremont, CA 94536. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Scleroderma Research Foundation at 220 Montgomery Street, Suite 1411, San Francisco, CA 94104. The family would like to thank everyone (too many to list separately), for the help, love and kindness shown to Sally and her family these last months. There are no words to adequately express the gratitude felt.
