Cecil Olund May 14, 1933 – Feb. 4, 2012 Resident of Hayward Cecil A. Olund, 78, resident of Hayward, CA for 48 years passed away on Feb 4, 2012. Cecil was born May 14, 1933 to Lillian and Clarence Olund in Harlowton, Montana. Cecil was preceded in death by first wife of 46 years, Eileen T. Olund, son Michael, sister Arlis Fox and beloved brother and best friend, Gary Olund. He is survived by wife Linda Olund, sons; Mark and Curtis Olund both of Hayward, daughter Teresa Connors of Pleasanton, five grandchildren; Dana and Cody Connors and Alicia, Josh and Carley Olund. He also leaves two sisters; Janice McKee and Bonnie Loop of Arizona. Cecil grew up in Silverdale, WA until drafted into the Army in 1954. After leaving the Army, he attended University of Washington earning a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration. He was an Operating Engineer for Local 3 of San Francisco for over 35 years and played a key role in lifting the Bay Bridge after the 1989 earthquake. He was a member of Hayward/Fremont Elks Lodge and Yuma AZ Moose Lodge. Cecil was a motorcycle enthusiast who enjoyed traveling the West Coast with wife Eileen, sister Arlis and husband, and brother in laws Norval Lowstad and Marvin Nenstiel. He also loved dirt biking with family and friends. Cecil and brother Gary, and business partner John Dieu, owned and operated Hayward/Honda/Suzuki/Sea Doo and Hayward Yamaha for over 30 years and the Double OD Ranch since 1974. Cecil had many fishing adventures with lifelong friend Pete Grahn and brother in laws, all of Washington. He retreated with family and friends to the Klamath River and Alaskan Waterways yearly. He also enjoyed traveling in his motorhome across the U.S. In 2007, he and Linda built a vacation home in Yuma, AZ where they enjoyed jeeping in the desert. A memorial service will be held on Feb 17, 2012 at 11:00AM Chapel of the Chimes, Hayward, CA.Published in Inside Bay Area on February 12, 2012
