Carmelita Dabu Seng's Obituary
Carmelita Dabu Seng, 79 years old, of Hayward, California, passed away peacefully on November 10, 2024 after 9 years of battling leiomyosarcoma. With God’s grace, Carmelita defied the odds and outlived the life expectancy of this disease.
Carmelita was born on November 29, 1944 to Dr. Floro V. Dabu and Mrs. Josefa Arejola Alvarez Dabu in Naga City, Philippines. After Carmelita graduated from University of Santo Tomas with a Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology and Pharmacy, her ambition brought her to Canada and, eventually, the United States. Carmelita went on to have two children, Andre Sarak and Denise Josefa in Kansa City, Missouri. In 1987, Carmelita and her two children moved to Union City, California.
In 2001, Carmelita retired early and spent her time attending mass, going to church activities, spending time and doting on her 6 grandchildren, and traveling back-and-forth to the Philippines to visit her many friends and family members.
Carmelita was predeceased by her parents Dr. Floro V. Dabu, Mrs Josefa Dabu, and her sister Dr. Angustius Dabu Calleja. She is survived by her adult children, Andre Sarak Seng and Denise Josefa Seng Shaw and son-in-law Zandy Shaw, and 6 grandchildren: Abel Sy, Ethan James Shaw, Mia Elise Shaw, Collin Andrew Shaw, Zachary Akalak Seng, and Izaiah Floro Seng.
Carmelita was a devout Catholic and a devoted mother and grandmother (Lola). Although she will be dearly missed, her spirit lives on in our hearts forever. In Carmelita’s own words, “Life is precious” and she certainly lived life to the fullest.
