Bruce George Baker's Obituary
Bruce George Baker of Honolulu, Hawaii peacefully passed away on Thursday, April 14, 2022 having reached the age of 96 years. Bruce was born August 18, 1925 to Bruce George Baker Sr and Hannah Ku’umililani Cummings Baker. He has 3 brothers and 3 sisters where one sister, Lillian is living in Washington. Bruce married Inez Valerio on February 4, 1949, a marriage of 62 years. Together, Inez and Bruce had four children, David, Eileen, Diane and Gordon. Additionally, he has 14 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. The wives and husbands dedicated to Bruce throughout the years are In-laws Pat and Kim Baker, Bill Lee and Bill Moy.
Bruce served in the Navy during WWII as a Coxman piloting landing boats to shore during battle dropping off troops, supplies and equipment. It was one of the greatest times in his life. He was a proud American.
A strong trait of Bruce was his work ethic. He was employed with Bechtel Corporation in San Francisco for 33 years as a structural engineer. He was an extremely hard worker, dedicated and determined to provide for his family and give them the tools needed for a good future.
Throughout his life, his hobby was building. He had many ventures including building a sailboat and camper. He was always designing and constructing projects.
He was a strong patriarch and a good friend to all. Truly a man who would give you the shirt off his back.
He leaves a huge hole in the hearts of his family and friends. Bruce loved Hawaii, the people and the music. They will miss being entertained by his stories and hilarious, silly jokes. He truly brought the life to the party.
He is now at peace, joining his wife, parents, family, and many friends.
