Mr. Haagenson was my 9th grade PE teacher, he was awsome. He used to encourage us (girls) to run around the track with the promise that it would train us for shopping and getting the best sales. He was so funny to around.##imported-begin##Carmen Gonzalez, SLZ Class of 2002##imported-end##
My favorite English teacher of all time, Mr. Haagenson. I remembered the first day that I entered S-7, Mr. Haagenson favorite place to be because he like to be isolated from all the “chaotic teachers” at SLZ=], and frighten as I can ever be, I walked over to introduced myself. He greeted me with this unforgettable yet the most ridiculous smile that I had ever seen. From that moment on I assure myself that he isn’t as intimidating as I thought he would be. He unified us little freshmen with jokes and stories that had us talking about it for hours to come. He wasn’t just another teacher who gives us facts and then set us to work. He gave us much more than an education; he gave us the chance to think for on our own. He enlightens the class with hours of his randomness of the things he just learn and discover as well as making jokes about the important peoples in his life, his parents, brother and girlfriend. Just from hearing his stories Mr. Haagenson taught us a moral lesson that nothing can compare to the values of family and friends time. Mr. Haagenson was not just a teacher; he was a story teller, an entertainer and most importantly our guidance into having a successful and joyful life. He shows us that life is about taking risk and you should not hold back but live life to the fullest. And Mr. Haagenson did that. He lived his life to the fullest doing every possible thing he ever wanted to do until the day he rest his eyes. I want to say, thank you for giving me the chance to be taught by you. It was a privilege that I will never forget. As a matter of fact, without you I would have hated English =]. Thanks for bringing me out of my shell and showing me that, if I put my mind into something I can achieve whatever I want to do. I understand that you cannot physically be at our graduation but in our hearts we know you are looking down at us with that silly smile of yours congratulating us for making it this far. I will always remember when i always stepped into Mr.Haagensons classroom to sell the school newspaper and he would crack jokes with the class to get them bought.
