Birendra Kumar Roy's Obituary
Birendra Kumar Roy was born on August 21, 1921 in Calcutta, India. He was one of 8 children born to Pramila and Ashwini Roy. For nearly 40 years, Biren served his country as a civilian clerk for the Indian Army in Bombay. He was married to his wife Bela for 64 years and had three children, Chinmoy, Romi, and Mrinmoy. His grandsons, Bryan and Aron, were blessed to have their Dadu in their lives when he permanently moved to the United States in 1993. As a new resident of Fremont, California, Biren actively participated in many community activities, including refereeing soccer, attending Senior Center events, and becoming a Senior Representative for the city’s Paratransit Program. On October 24, 2014, at the age of 93, Biren left us to join his beloved, Bela, who passed away in 2012. He will be deeply missed by his children Chinu and Norma, Romi, and Minu, his grandsons Bryan and Aron, all of Fremont, his sister Nanda of Calcutta, and many nieces and nephews in India. Although we will mourn his loss, we will also celebrate his life….a life of courage, determination, and a touch of tenacity.
