Beverly Jean Smith's Obituary
Beverly Jean SmithFebruary 8, 1941- December 27, 2018Beverly was born in Milwaukee and grew up primarily in Tomah, Wisconsin surrounded by many cherished pets and family members. Her family moved to Oakland, CA in 1957, where she attended Castlemont High School. There, she met her future husband Vernon, who described their first meeting as love at first sight (at least on his end!). They married on July 8, 1961.While the Marine Corps took them further south, they remained California residents. She worked several different jobs before settling down as a housewife and raising their family in San Lorenzo.She was a founding member of the Housecat Fanciers of the Bay Area, the first cat show of its kind in California for housecats only. Bev was also a devoted Oakland A’s fan for decades.She is preceded in death by her beloved horse Highball, many cats and other pets, her parents Roy and Marie Pirnat and her brother Rudy.
