Betty Jeanne Davilla's Obituary
Betty Davilla entered into Heaven on Jan. 8, 2012 at the age of 82. She was the daughter of the late Dr. & Mrs. Harold J. Shanks and was born and raised in the Bay Area along with her brother Harold Jr. and sister Maryalda.Betty attended U.C. Berkeley from 1947-49. She went on to nursing school and worked with her father, Dr. Shanks at his office on Main St. in Pleasanton. Betty married Perry 'Bud' Davilla in Jan. 1951. They built their home in Eden Canyon on their family ranch and continued the longtime family tradition of raising sheep and cattle. Betty loved being a rancher's wife and attended to all the responsibilities with love and joy while raising their 3 children. Betty enjoyed hunting trips with Bud, country living, was an amazing cook, played the piano like an angel, loved gardening, getting together for lunch and playing Bridge with her friends, listening to her radio shows daily, and was very active in her church. Betty was a beautiful woman who exuded love and generosity. She will be deeply missed by all whose life she touched and will be forever in our hearts! Betty was preceded in death by her beloved husband Perry 'Bud' Davilla and her sister Maryalda. She is survived by her three devoted children, James (Rachel), Nancy, and Tony (Michelle). She was also blessed by her five grandchildren, Andrew, Rhett, Kyle, Luke and Jimmy, and two step-grandchildren, Ryan and Shannon, who along with all of their friends, lovingly called her 'Nanny'. She is also survived by her brother Harold Shanks Jr and sister-in-law Judy who reside in Garderville, Nevada. Betty also leaves behind a large extended family which include cousins, nieces, nephews and a multitude of dear friends. Family and friends are invited to her Celebration of Life service at the Chapel of the Chimes, 32992 Mission Blvd, Hayward on Tues. Jan. 17th at 1:30pm. 'Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you.
