My Great Aunt Bertha Lee Brooks Henderson was known for her baking and especially her coconut cake. When I was introduced to the family in 1996 one of the things she asked me was what did know how to do? I replied by saying I bake?.so for the family Thanksgiving get together she told me to bring a cake. So, I bake a 2-teir, 12-inch in diameter Chocolate Cake and when she tasted it, she said this boy knows what he?s doing! That?s when I got her seal of approval..! And later that day they needed someone to carve the Turkey but no one was around and I volunteered?.and it was another job well done by her with another approval by her will we celebrated at her home!!! She will be sorely missed?..!
From: LUCILLE SCOTT VERRETT & Family – My heart-felt sympathy to the family at the lost of cousin Bertha Lee. One thing that came to my mine upon seeing her picture, was the statement she made during the family meeting at the reunion in Raleigh, NC, she said to the young people to love and trust GOD always and through Him all things are possible. The most important thing to me was that I know my momma, Melvina Williams-Scott loved cousin Bertha.
