Bernardita Aberin's Obituary
Bernardita “Bernie” C. Aberin, age 60, entered the Kingdom of Heaven surrounded by family, love, unceasing prayer and song on Monday, December 18, 2017 at UCI Medical Center.Bernie was born November 29, 1957 in Meycayuan, Bulacan, Philippines to Feliciano and Serena (Delos Santos) Canuto with five siblings— Joselito, Luzviminda, Feliciano, Jr., Maria Ana and Rolando. She received education from Caloocan High School, earned a Bachelors of Arts in Advertising from Philippines College of Commerce (Polytechnic University of the Philippines), an Associates in Nursing from Chabot Community College in 1997 and graduated from Chamberlain University with a Bachelors of Science in Nursing in 2015.In 1974, she met her future husband Romeo Aberin while they were in college. Their shared love of music led them to join their college’s singing troupe, Bagong Himig and their love story began. On November 1, 1978 Bernie entered the Holy Sacrament of Matrimony with Romeo. Together they raised five children, Rolazar, Romeo Jr, Romaria, Ronald and Rosemary. Romeo and Bernie spent their life together serving the Church, traveling the world, making music and spending time with their friends and growing family.For the past 20 years, Bernie worked as a registered nurse in the Intensive Care Unit at Kaiser Permanente, Hayward then to Kaiser Permanente, San Leandro. She dedicated her life to share hope, healing and compassion to the sick. She continued to do God’s work through her work with MENC (Marriage Encounter Northern California) and at St. Bede Catholic Church in leading the faith community in worship and praise in the choir alongside her family.Bernie will be remembered as a selfless and faithful servant of God. Her infectious laugh and dimpled smile will be missed but her memories will live on through those lives touched by her kind heart.She is survived by her loving husband, five children, mother, five siblings, six grandchildren and many nephews and nieces.The Aberin family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at UCI Medical Center in Irvine, Ca who provided compassion and loving care to the family during this difficult time.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Bernie’s name to St. Bede Catholic Church.
