Benjamin Rogacion Toledo's Obituary
Benjamin Rogacion Toledo, aged 90, of Union City, California, passed away peacefully on May 11, 2024.
Ben was born in Bacoor, Cavite, Philippines on October 6, 1933 to Mariano Toledo and Emilia Rogacion. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Foreign Service Affairs from the University of the Philippines, then took the board exam to become a Foreign Service Officer. Ben worked at Malacañang Palace during the presidency of Carlos P. Garcia. Later, while working as an Auditor at Government Service Insurance System, he continued his education, studying Law at night at Lyceum of the Philippines University and passed the bar exam.
Ben immigrated to the United States in 1978, where he continued to cherish and nurture his family, instilling in them the value of education, industrious work and a strong Christian faith. His dedication to his children’s education was evident as he actively participated as a PTA officer and supported their endeavors with unwavering enthusiasm. A true sports fan, Ben enjoyed bowling, watching the Warriors and Giants, and playing Mahjong, sharing many joyful moments with friends and family.
He was a devoted husband to his first wife, Julie Velasquez, whom he was married to from 1958 until her passing in 1993, and to his second wife, Lydia Genovea, who survives him.
Known for his loving and family-oriented nature, he especially adored taking care of and spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, creating lasting memories. Ben was a loving father to Alvin, Marissa, Nimfa and Melanie; a doting grandfather to 8 grandchildren; and an inspiration to 3 great grandchildren.
A viewing will be held at Chapel of the Chimes, Hayward, CA on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, from 5:00 - 8:00 pm. The funeral service will be held at Chapel of the Chimes on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at 9:00 am with interment and a lunch reception immediately following.
Ben’s legacy of love of God and family, and joy in simple pleasures will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him. He will be deeply missed and eternally remembered.
