Benjamin Chong Jin Lau's Obituary
Benjamin Lau was born in Penang, Malaysia on January 11th, 1975. He is survived by his parents Tony and Susan Lau and siblings Joanne, Stephanie and Eugene Lau and his beloved dog Kaiko. Ben spent his early years in Penang, Malaysia where he enjoyed the south east asian country club life - swimming during the day and eating at the local hawker food stands at night.
Ben immigrated with his family to the United States in 1984 and lived in Alameda, California where he attended elementary and middle school. In 1990, he moved with his family to Danville, California where he attended Monte Vista High School. After receiving his Bachelor’s degree from Cal State Hayward, he worked as an underwriter for Long Beach mortgage. Eventually he transitioned to working for Wells Fargo as a Treasury Analyst.
Ben was a huge fan of trying new foods and traveling to new places. Whenever he wanted to travel to a new place, he would watch videos and shows on the best foods and restaurants to visit during his trip.
Ben passed away peacefully on August 17th, 2023 in Pleasanton, California surrounded by family. He will always be remembered as a loving and generous friend, uncle, brother, and son.
