Benito Jose Rivas' Obituary
In Loving Memory of Benito Jose Rivas
August 5, 1960 – October 5, 2025
Benito Jose Rivas, lovingly known as Papa, age 65 of Fremont, California, passed away peacefully on October 5, 2025, surrounded by his adoring family.
Benito was a devoted husband to Maria Elena Rivas (Lila), and a proud father to his three children: Benito Aristides Rivas, Junior Rivas, and Genesis Rivas. He was the cherished grandfather of Armando Jose Rivas, Ruby Rivas, Crystal Rivas, Destiny Rivas, Galilea Rivas, and Delilah Rivas — and a beloved great-grandfather to Leah Rivas and Layla Rose Rivas.
To his family, he was more than just a father and grandfather — he was Papa, the heart and soul of the Rivas family. He was a true family man whose love ran deep and whose presence brought comfort, laughter, and strength. Family was everything to him, and he lived each day pouring love into those he cared about most.
Professionally, Benito worked for many years in convention services at the Hyatt Regency San Francisco Airport . There, he was known — and proudly insisted on being called — Rivas. It was a name he carried with pride, a reflection of his identity, strength, and the respect he earned throughout his career. As a co-worker and friend, Rivas was admired for his dependability, positivity, and uplifting personality. He brought light to the workplace and left lasting impressions on everyone he met.
He had a unique sense of style and a vibrant personality that stood out wherever he went. Benito carried himself with confidence and pride, always taking care in his appearance and embracing his individuality with high self-esteem and grace. He didn’t just walk into a room — he arrived.
Music was a constant in his life, a passion that went beyond enjoyment and into identity. He especially loved “My Way” by Frank Sinatra — a song he lived by, reflecting his independence, strength, and authenticity. Benito also loved watching sports, cheering on his favorite teams with enthusiasm and joy, often making it a shared experience with family and friends.
Known for his kindness, strength, humor, and generous heart, Papa was someone who made others feel seen, valued, and loved. His memory will live on in every song, every story, and every moment shared in his honor.
Benito was an amazing man — a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, friend, and co-worker — who will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
A celebration of his life will be held in Chapel of the Chimes Hayward, California. Details will be shared with friends and family.
