Belinda Dizon Abad Santos' Obituary
Belinda “Lynn” Dizon Abad Santos was born in San Fernando, Pampanga on October 17, 1961 to the late Eduardo Lindo Dizon and the late Soledad Bacani Dizon. She was the third of seven children.Lynn attended St. Scholastica’s Academy from kindergarten to elementary, and then finished high school at Jose Abad Santos High School as a science scholar. She went to college at the University of the Philippines to pursue politcal science. However, after one year, she followed a calling in her life and pursued music at Bethel Bible Institute where she met her husband Noni Abad Santos, the father of her two sons. She then furthered her music course at Febias Bible College and took voice lessons at the Philippine Baptist Theological Seminary in Baguio. Lynn led the praise and worship team and Bible study cell groups at the Church. She worked at the Clarkton Hotel in Angeles City before migrating to the United States.It was in September 1991 when Lynn and her family joined her father and siblings in the United States. She lived in Chicago for years before moving to California. She attended Truman College and Wright College in Chicago to pursue nursing. She landed in various professions as a caregiver, a flight attendant of American Airlines, a licensed pharmacy technician at Walgreens and a mortgage loan officer. Lynn was passionate about reading and writing letters to friends before the e-mail technology. She also loved to sing gospel songs and listened to her favorite Karen Carpenter songs. She enjoyed cooking chicken adobo and sinigang and watching Tagalog telenovelas.Lynn was diagnosed with lung cancer at a latent state in September 2011 and battled this deadly disease for seven months, going through radiation and chemotherapy. She spent her last week in the beautiful and serene Alexander Cohen Hospice House by Modesto, surrounded by her family. In spite of this tragic turn of events, she kept a positive outlook in life. Her determination to live 10 more years was so strong that nobody could talk to her about the inevitable. She vowed to live longer so that she could do mission work and travel to the Holy Land.Lynn is survived by her husband Lance, sons Immanuel and Joshua, daughters-in-law Regina and Nikki, grandchildren Cielo Jaira and Angelo, sisters Nancy, Mae, and Carol, brothers Romy, Edward, Rod, Ricky, Lito and Benny, sisters-in-law Arlene and Joyce, brother-in-law Jun, nephews Earl, RJ, Daniel, Derrick and CJ and nieces, Katrina, Nicole and Sandra.Lynn will always be remembered with her bedimpled sweet smile. She will be treasured as a loving mom, a caring wife, a thoughtful sister, a devoted Christian believer, and a generous friend. Her courage and determination to live will remain an inspiration to all those that she left behind.Services for Lynn will begin with a visitation on Thursday evening, April 19, 2012 from 5 pm to 9 pm with a Funeral Service Friday, April 20, 2012 at 1:30 pm, at Chapel of the Chimes Funeral Home, 32992 Mission Boulevard, Hayward, California in the Reflection Chapel.
