Bayani Mercado Dizon's Obituary
Bayani Mercado Dizon, known affectionately as Papa, peacefully passed away on October 20, 2023, at the age of 79, in Fremont Park Central SNF, California. Born on February 6, 1944, in Manila, Philippines, Bayani was a man of gentle demeanor and unwavering kindness.
Bayani was a kind and loving person. He was married to his beloved wife Helen for 53 years. He had a great sense of humor and wit, always finding a way to make others smile. Bayani was a simple man who never complained and had a knack for bringing joy to those around him. He played a significant role in raising most of his grandchildren, although he adamantly refused to change diapers.
Bayani leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion. He is survived by his six children, seven grandchildren, and two cherished cats. His presence will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
In his leisure time, Bayani enjoyed going to flea markets, thrift stores, and the occasional junkyard. He was passionate about helping to fix other people’s cars, earning the admiration of those around him. After retiring, Bayani and Helen dedicated themselves to their faith, attending daily services at St. Edward Catholic Church. Bayani also found enjoyment in occasional visits to the casino, adding a touch of excitement to his life.
A viewing will be held on November 8, 2023, from 4-8pm at the Chapel of the Chimes in Hayward, CA. The funeral Mass will take place on November 9, 2023, at 10:30 am at St. Edward Catholic Church in Newark, CA. Following the burial at Chapel of the Chimes, a reception will be held at Newark Buffet, located at 35201 Newark Blvd, Newark, CA.
