My gift to my dad, on Father’s Day 2023, didn’t get my hug and kiss from him in 2024!
My dad, was known, not just in union city, it encompassed multiple counties within our area. I have met people as far away as Fresno, Sacramento, Santa Rosa, Monterey who I have come across that talked about the plays my dad executed against them and a couple people wanted me to show them how certain plays were instituted. Like the “confusion play” or the “heads up play” we called it the MOCO play, because the pitcher was picking his nose. lol. My dad even practiced with kids from opposing teams (with their coaches permission) because he loved to see kids playing baseball and improving daily. He even had Friday pitching practices for anyone who wanted to learn to pitch correctly, we even had a kid come out for one Friday to see if he could improve his pitching. We gladly helped him, even though he was pitching against us the next day for the championship. That’s the way my dad was, he loved kids and he loved little league. There is no other person in our city, that has done more for the development of kids, on and off the baseball field, than my dad. Today marks the one year anniversary of his passing and I still get emotional thinking of him.
I just remember how involved he was in baseball. I wasn’t around Baso much but the Perez family have happy memories. I remember him very much as a gentleman and on the quiet side. Always remembered me as joe’s wife🫶🏼😇
Baso, tell my joe and all the loved ones,hi for me♥️
