Basant Gill's Obituary
In loving memory of Basant Kaur Gill who passed away peacefully on Nov 8, 2019 at the age of 95. She was surrounded by her loved ones at home in Fremont, California. She is preceded in death by her late husband Gurdev Gill. Her memory lives on through her only daughter Rani, her son in law Edgardo Hernandez and her beloved grandsons Gabriel and Michael.Basant was born on November 15, 1923 in San Miguel, Manila to Partap Singh and Rattan Kaur. She earned a degree in education at the University of the Philippines and completed a Master’s Degree at San Diego State University. With a great desire to master her craft, she pursued a certificate in English as a Second Language at UCLA.Basant fulfilled a lifetime of making a difference in the lives of many. She taught at FEATI high school and at the University of the East where she also served as a guidance counselor. She was highly respected and loved by her students and colleagues.Basant was a dedicated parishioner at St Joseph Catholic Church in Fremont, CA and devoted her time in prayer. Mommy Basant, as she was fondly called, loved and was loved by all who knew her. On Mommy Basant’s 96th birthday, Friday, November 15, 2019 the family will receive relatives and friends from 5pm to 9pm at the Chapel of the Chimes Funeral Homes, 32992 Mission Blvd, Hayward CA 94544. Funeral Mass at 10am Saturday Nov 16 at St Joseph Church43148 Mission Bvld Fremont Ca 94539 In lieu of monetary donation , donations may be made to Sr John Marie’s Pantry or St Vincent de Paul
