Barbara Jean Holland's Obituary
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Barbara Jean Holland, on Wednesday, the Eighth of November, 2023 at the age of 84. With her, at her peaceful passing, were her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her loving children Jay and Guy, Jay's wife Karyn, and cherished grandchildren Maya and Sage from Marin County/Larkspur, CA. And by her cousins Melinda and Terry Kanthack of Castro Valley, CA. Barbara was born on February 6, 1939, in Miami, OK.
Barbara's vibrant life was marked by her dedication to family, evident through her active involvement in the lives of her children and grandchildren. She found joy in tennis, family walks, Jazzercise, gym workouts, and a love for healthy foods. Skiing and beach outings were among her favorite activities, reflecting her adventurous spirit. An avid painter and, painting her own Christmas cards, Barbara's creative passion knew no bounds.
She generously devoted time as a Candy Striper, and created lasting memories at the Wyandotte Nation pow-wow with her brother Jerry. Barbara's values were rooted in making people feel heard, spending quality time with her grandkids, and embodying forgiveness and boundless generosity.
Barbara's love for travel took her on memorable cruises with dear friend Anita Pacheco, along the scenic coasts (excluding Monterey fog), and to the breathtaking landscapes of Alaska. Her beloved dog, Ryko, was a constant companion in her adventures.
Her special bond with family was exemplified by the imaginative Barbie weddings she crafted with her grandkids and the whimsical "drive to Hawaii" journeys in her mini van with the girls.
May her gentle, patient, forgiving, and generous spirit continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing her.
A celebration of Barbara's life will be held at the Chapel of the Chimes in Hayward. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to Wyandotte Nation Honor Guard.
