Bhaiya is no more but his memories will always be with us. We can still clearly see him sitting with us in Aradhana.
He was always so full of life, could engage on any topic, with anyone.
Aruna and I have deep respect for him. He was a father and a loving mentor for all of us. He often gave us advise which we will always value. Will always miss him.

Dear Naanaji,
Sending a quick update letter to you instead of the weekly call. We are doing fine in Chennai. All is well at work for me, kids exams have started, Badri is managing fine in Pune. Parents are keeping well.
Last few days were emotionally challenging, but we are keeping a brave front just like you would do.
In order to cope with the emotions, I have penned down my feelings which I always wanted to share with you -
Foremost, Vedanth, Adyanth, Badri and I dearly love you and thank you for being the iron pillar of support and inspiration for us all these years.
You kept me so close to you always - igniting my interest in book reading, cricket, tennis, politics, coin collection apart from pushing me to perform well in academics and at work.
You were the grandfather who always watched over grandchildren, kept a check on us, pushed us to achieve more in life, shared his experiences with us and showered us with so much affection.
You were the role model who taught us how to deal with every situation in life with a book & a smile and keep one’s spirit positive and motivated.
I thank you with my heart for being all of the above, blessing me and staying such a pivotal part of my life.

Dear Nanaji,
It is difficult to express the depth of the bond I share with you in words. You always had a positive outlook on life, and even though I know you faced your fair share of struggles, you made it seem like life was a piece of cake. You have been an inspiration to all the generations that followed you, showing us how to be a tenacious brother, a doting dad, and the coolest grandad and great-granddad.
I feel blessed to have been born as your granddaughter, and I hope and pray that the universe gives us another chance to spend another lifetime together. I will miss our regular calls to check up on me, and I will do my best to carry on your great legacy for the next generations.

Nanaji was a loving, kind and generous person. He was funny, always willing to spend time with us and hear what we had to say. I remember him taking my copy of one of my favorite books and just keeping it, which I found hilarious (and loved that he read it).
Parul and I remember a memorable trip we took with him to Agra, which was not only an amazing experience because of the sights, but also funny because there was a bus full of tourists from Tamil Nadu who insisted on taking a picture with the 3 of us. We were confused, but they were excited about us being Kashmiris and enthusiastic about being in Agra (but not dressed appropriately for the cool weather).
We ended up taking the picture with them, though Nanaji did not stand up for the picture, they had to come to him (adding to the hilarity). In a lot of ways, that was quintessential Nanaji, willing but with a healthy dose of skepticism. We will always love him and miss him and are grateful to have been able to spend the time we had with him.

I grew up in Delhi with Muskie for a good part of my early childhood and Nanaji would visit off and on then or we would visit Kalkaji. I remember him being quite strict at that time, atleast that is what it seemed like when we were kids. However once Muskie shifted to the US, there weren't any meetings as such all the way till when I went to the US for my internship with Cherry Mumma. Those 3 months were the sweetest with Nanaji, Papaji and Rani ma. They literally treated me like a princess and it was just so special. After that, I met Nanaji at Muskie's wedding & then he came to India to stay at my parents' and again both times it was just amazing to engage in conversations with him. He was so soft and gentle and humorous too and would tease me just as a grand dad would.
May his soul rest in peace and may his memories always bring a smile to everyone whose lives he touched.
