Baldish Gill's Obituary
In Loving Memory of Baldish "Baldi" Gill
August 27, 1956 - April 18, 2024
It is with profound sorrow and immense love that we remember Baldish Gill, fondly known as Baldi, who was born in the vibrant town of Jinja, Uganda, to Bachittar Singh Gill and Jagjit Kaur Gill. As the third of five siblings, Baldi grew up with his sisters, Tina, Anita, and Suniti, and his brother, Tutu, in a lively and loving household.
Baldi's educational journey took him from the Convent of Jesus and Mary in Mussoorie, India, to the prestigious Mayo College in Ajmer, where he excelled not only academically but also as the captain of the football team and a member of the cricket, hockey, and squash teams. His pursuit of education continued at the US International University, spanning Nairobi, Kenya, and the University of California, San Diego, from which he graduated in 1978.
His entrepreneurial spirit and dedication marked Baldi's professional life. After working with his family's business in Nairobi and stints in England, New York, and Los Angeles, he settled in the Bay Area, where he would meet and marry Rennu in 1997.
Together, they founded Genius Kids, a pioneering early childhood learning center that has grown into over 40 franchises and touched countless young lives.
Beyond his professional achievements, Baldi cherished his role as a family man. He was a devoted father to Shana and Sheena, never missing a performance and unconditionally supporting their dreams. As a grandfather, Baldi reveled in the joys of spending time with his grandchildren, Veer, Jia, and Shaan, whether listening to them read, playing games, or cheering them on at sports activities. They adored their Nanaji, whose presence enriched their lives profoundly.
Baldi's passions extended to sports and music. An avid Arsenal FC fan, he also enjoyed playing golf and had a diverse musical taste that resonated through his joyful presence. His infectious sense of humor and ability to light up a room will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Baldi leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and leadership. He is survived by his loving wife, Rennu; daughters, Shana and Sheena; son-in-law, Jaipal; grandchildren, Veer, Jia, and Shaan; and his siblings, Tina, Anita, Suniti, and Tutu. Predeceased by his parents and first wife, Paz, Baldi's spirit will forever be a guiding light in our hearts.
As we bid farewell to Baldi, we celebrate the extraordinary life he led and the indelible marks he left on our hearts. His memory will continue to inspire and influence, a testament to a well-lived life. May he rest in peace, and may his stories and laughter echo through generations.
