Bachan Singh BajwaFeb 4, 1954 – June 9, 2017Bachan (Ben) Singh Bajwa, 63, passed away on June 9, 2017 peacefully in his home. He was the son of the late Sardar Bal Singh and the late Sardarni Pritam Kaur and was the youngest of six siblings; Mahinder S Bajwa, Late Baldev S Bajwa, Late Harbans Kaur, Hans Kaur, Late Ratan S Bajwa.Bajwa was born in Pandwa, a small village in Punjab, India. He attended primary school at the local village and completed his education at Ram Garia College Preparatory School. At 22, Bajwa immigrated to Germany in search of opportunities to support his family in Punjab. There, he worked as a grocer for 12 years.In 1980, at 26, Bajwa returned to Punjab to marry Gurjit Kaur. They were blessed with two sons, Amandeep S. Bajwa (Ami) and Navneet S. Bajwa (Navi), whom they raised with love and care in Germany, India, and the United States.In 1988, Bajwa moved to the United States in search for the American Dream. He worked tirelessly, determined to create a better life for his family. In 1996, Bajwa achieved his ultimate goal of owning his own business, Shamrock Liquors. With persistence and hard work, he successfully expanded his business ventures to include rental properties.Bajwa was an exceptionally humble and generous man. He went out of his way to make sure his extended family was well taken care of. He was kind hearted and always willing to go out of his way to assist even a stranger. Bajwa had a big appetite for life. He enjoyed gardening, barbeques, date nights at the Indian theater, and spending time with his family. He delighted in varieties of Punjabi dishes especially the meals prepared by his wife. His favorite fruit was cantaloupe and he fancied pickles. Speculation is that he was introduced to pickles by the Germans and enjoyed them with Indian food. Bajwa loved hosting his friends and would light up any room with his infectious smile and personality.Bajwa will never be forgotten by his friends and family. We will always cherish the times that he shared with us and he will always live forever in our memories and hearts. He is survived by his wife Gurjit Kaur and two sons, Amandeep S. Bajwa and Navneet S. Bajwa.
