Augusto Brusca's Obituary
Augusto Brusca born Jan 6, 1922 in Priverno, Italy to the late Rinaldo & Carmina Brusca died peacefully at his home on Thurs, Sept 27, 2012. Augusto graduated from the police academy in Italy as Carabinieri following a family tradition in law enforcement. During WWII while on a special mission in Tunisia he was captured as a POW. He was eventually relocated to Oakland where he met his future bride, Rosalie. After the war ended he went back to Italy where Rosalie followed and they were married at St. Peters Basilica, Vatican City. In 1948 they returned to Oakland to make their home for the next 60 years. Augusto learned the trade of cabinet making which became his passion. He was a long-time member of Eagles Aerie #1139 where he was Chaplain. He also cooked for their monthly spaghetti dinners serving up to 50-60 guests. Augusto was a member of the Moose Lodge in Castro Valley where he enjoyed karaoke and dancing with his dear friend Emmi. He enjoyed life to the fullest and will be missed by all who knew him. He is preceded in death by his loving wife Rosalie 'Dolly'; his siblings' Luigi, Guiseppe & Maria; his brother-in-laws' Giacinto & Joe; and his nephew Silvano. He is survived by his nieces & nephews' Cesare, Claudio, Cristina, Rinaldo 'Nando', Elvira, Francesca, Debbie, Joey, & Karen; his sister-in-laws' Marietta, Teresa & Ann; and many relatives and friends. The family is asking in lieu of flowers that memorial contributions be made to Sutter Care At Home, 1900 Powell Street, Suite 300, Emeryville, CA 94608; the American Cancer Society; or a charity of your choice. Family and Friends are invited to a visitation on Monday, October 8, 2012 from 5:00pm-9:00pm, with a Vigil starting at 7:00 p.m. at Chapel of the Chimes Funeral Home, 32992 Mission Blvd, Hayward and a Funeral Mass on Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at 10:00 am, at St. Anne's Catholic Church 32223 Cabello Street Union City, CA 9458.
