Arturo Mendez's Obituary
May 5, 1928 – May 28, 2008 Resident of Castro Valley It is with great sorrow that we note the passing of our dearly loved father, Arturo. Our pillar of strength was born in Monterrey, Mexico where he met and married his childhood sweetheart, Maria Cristina in August of 1950. Arturo and Maria moved to the U.S. with their young family in 1953. They settled in the Bay Area where they lived happily for the past 45 years until her passing in March of this year. Arturo’s hobby, livelihood, and passion was in construction. He was a master woodcraftsman and builder, retiring as superintendent for Peacock Construction Company. He passed on his skills, his knowledge, hard work and his love which made us the best sons, daughters, family and friends that a man could posses. He was truely one of a kind. Arturo is survived by his children, Art, Ralph, Alex and Patty; their respected spouses, Patty, Mary, Eulalia and Darrel; his 11 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. We bel-ieve even the greatest carpenter in mankind would love his input in keeping Gods Kingdom in perfect condition. Dad, please check the hinges on the Pearly Gates to maintain working condition for the rest of us when we get there. May God bless you and accept you into His kingdom for all eternity. The family is requesting conributions be made to his congregation in lieu of flowers; El Shaddai Christian Fellowship, 670 Sunset Blvd., Hayward, Ca 94541 Visitation will be held – Tues. 6/3 from 5:30-8:30pm.
