Arturo Cabrales, age 95, of El Dorado Hills, California passed away on Wednesday, September 25, 2024.
Arturo Cabrales, aged 95, of El Dorado Hills, California, passed away peacefully on Wednesday,
September 25, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Waterford, California, on February
15, 1929, Arturo was a devoted son, husband, father, brother, and friend whose presence
brought warmth and joy to all who knew him. His beautiful spirit touched many lives, and his
memory will forever be cherished.
Arturo served his country proudly, enlisting in the U.S. Army and serving from December 22,
1950, to September 26, 1952. A Korean War veteran, he was honorably discharged as a
Sergeant First Class, a testament to his courage and dedication. Following his service, Arturo
found his true calling in education. He was among the first graduates of Cal State Hayward in
1964, later earning a Master’s degree from San Jose State University. As a Spanish teacher, he
began his career at Washington High School in Fremont and eventually became the Head of the
Language Department at Mission San Jose High School. Arturo’s love for teaching was so
profound that he returned from retirement twice, inspiring generations of students with his
passion for language and learning.
Arturo’s love extended deeply to his family and friends. Known for his generous heart and
charming personality, he regarded no one as a stranger and found joy in uplifting others.
Blessed with a rich voice, he sang in his church choir for many years, sharing his gift with his
community. He enjoyed lively conversations, spending time with loved ones, and taking trips to
the casino to play the slot machines. Together with his beloved wife of 55 years, Maria Elena
Cabrales, Arturo explored the world, with cherished travels to Europe and Mexico.
Arturo’s legacy is one of kindness, dedication, and a life well-lived. He will be dearly missed and
remembered by those he held close.

A celebration of life will be held at Corpus Christi Church in Fremont on November 19 at 11 am.
A gravesite blessing will be held at the Chapel of the Chimes in Hayward at 12:30 pm.
