Artis Lee Smith Jan. 10, 1942 – Sept. 5, 2009 Resident of Union City Born in Beaumont Texas Artis was the son of the late Isaiah and Lillie Mae Smith, the fifth of nine children. He leaves to cherish his memories, his loving, devoted and dedicated wife of 42 years Carolyn, daughter Rachelle (Anthony) Brown of San Leandro and granddaughter Kristina Smith who truly adored her “Papa”. Artis is also survived by 5 sisters, Rose Z. Hamilton (Vernon) of Pacifica, Louise M. Jones of Suisun, Annie Shelbourn and Lillie M. Eaglin of Houston TX and Vivian M. Robinson of Fairfield and sister-in-law Carol A. Smith of Vallejo; 2 brothers, John W.Smith (Rosie L.) of Richmond and Carl E. Smith (Erma F.) of San Francisco; an adopted brother and sister, Vaniel and Marie Landrio and 19 nieces, 6 nephews, 19 great-nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives, friends, neighbors, church family and extended family. Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Thursday September 10 from 5:00 to 8:30 p.m. and a Celebration of Life on Friday September 11 at the Mission Chapel of Chapel of the Chimes, 32992 Mission Blvd, Hayward, Ca 94544.
