Arthur Lee BerryAug. 20, 1936-Jan 21, 2009Resident of Union City Arthur (Art) Berry was born August 20, 1936 to L.D. and Georgia Berry in New Heborn, Mississippi. He attended high school Toledo Ohio where he played varsity football. Art loved baseball and played on several teams. He was also an outstanding bowler and participated in many bowling leagues. In 1960, Art moved to California and began working for Sunshine Biscuit. He met and married Dolores Grant in 1969. They enjoyed 39 wonderful years of marriage and were blessed with three children. Some of his favorite moments were spent traveling with his family and having get-togethers with relatives and friends. Art retired for Sunshine Biscuit in 1997 after 36 years of employment. His favorite hobbies included fishing, camping, playing poker and going to the horse races. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren; he was a family man. Art passed away peacefully on January 21, 2009 at the age of 72. He was surrounded by his loving family and friends. He is survived by his devoted wife, Dolores Berry; mother, Georgia Ree Berry; brother, Roy C. Berry; three sons, Darrell, Jason and Christopher; daughter, Crystal; and many grand and great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, a niece, nephew, cousins, and a host of friends. Art will be missed by all who knew him. His easy-going personality, compassion for others and dedication to his family will forever linger in our hearts and minds.A Memorial Service will be held at CHAPEL OF THE CHIMES, 32992 Mission Blvd, Hayward, on Wednesday, January 28, 2009 at 1:30 pm.
