Narvaez, 86, passed away peacefully on Tuesday May 16, 2017 at the VA hospital in Menlo Park surrounded by his immediate family.Tony was born in Bacoor Cavite in the Philippines on April 21st, 1931. He lost his father at age 17 and his mother became the sole breadwinner of the family as a fish vendor. Although he did his best to help out, he felt that was not enough. He attended the Philippine School of Art and Trade to graduate with a degree in Machine Shop Practice. Immediately after graduation, he followed his ambition and joined the US Navy at the age of 22.He met his wife Carmen in San Diego in 1970. After retiring from the Navy, he went to work as a civilian employee as the Oakland Army Base Public Works center and retired from work life at the age of 65 and enjoyed his retirement. He loved his daily get-togethers with his friends at McDonalds. Being with his friends and hearing all kinds of jokes helped relieve any worries he had in life. He tried to make it as much as he could, even as his health got in the way. Three years ago he welcomed his first grandchild Koa and always lit up whenever he saw his face.Although Tony was quiet, whenever he smiled or laughed it filled you with happiness because you knew it was genuine. His love and dedication to his family was always unquestioned and will be sorrowfully missed. He leaves behind his wife, Carmen Narvaez, his children Neil and Janice; his sister Leticia; his brother Angelito; and his grandson Koa.
