Annie Mary Wilson-Beattie's Obituary
Annie M. Beattie 12/12/13 to 9/8/08 Annie, a resident of Fremont, California since 1970, passed away on September 8, 2008, at the age of 94. She is survived by Thomas H. Beattie, her husband of 23 years, her son John G. Wilson, Jr., (Carol) her daughter Phyllis Ann Wilson (Edgar Heithaus), Scott, Chris and Alexandra, her grandchildren, and her great granddaughter, Ella. Annie was predeceased by her first husband John G. Wilson, Sr. in 1983, to whom she was married for 54 years. Annie was born in Bushnell, Illinois, and moved to Chicago after high school. There she met Johnnie, and started to work for the phone company. When Johnnie was discharged from the Navy at Camp Parks in California after World War II, Annie joined him in the Bay Area, where she has lived ever since. They were married in 1929. She worked for Pacific Bell, was promoted to Accounting Supervisor, and retired after 28 years of phone company service. Annie will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, and for the things she enjoyed doing most being with her family, crocheting gifts for others, playing golf, going to Reno to play video poker. She was a devoted wife and mother, as well as a successful career woman, long before it was acceptable to do both. Her guidance and love will be greatly missed. Services will be held at 1PM on Friday, September 12, at Chapel of the Chimes, 32992 Mission Blvd, Hayward. Donations in her memory may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
