Angel Gallardo Salinas' Obituary
Angel Gallardo Salinas was born in Guadalupe, Makati Philippines on 6/12/1946 to parents Luisa E. Gallardo and Angel V. Salinas Sr. Angel came to the United States on 9/23/1964 with his sister Dotty to be with their dad and sister Lenny. Soon after, his mom and brothers Alvin and Allan joined them in America where they resided in Oakland, then later moving to Union City. Angel attended Laney College in Oakland with a technical degree in Machinist Apprenticeship program. Angel worked for the past 57 years and loved what he did. He was a Tool & Die maker/Machinist and loved his job so much that he rarely missed work. He enjoyed making friends at work and was happy when around his colleagues. He hung out with his good friends Jhun, Rodel, Ramon, Ben, Umendra, Chris and Riza during breaks and lunch time. He worked at CPI, Communications & Power Industries in Mountain View, and Palo Alto for almost 20 years. He planned to retire this year but unfortunately, life came too short.
Angel was surrounded by so many old friends, including the Guadalupe Club members that he had known since he was a kid in the Philippines and made a lot of great friends along the way. He was a happy person, always joking around, telling jolly stories, and he appreciated every moment with love. Angel loved singing and was great at it. He enjoyed singing in front of his friends and family. He performed on a national TV noontime show, Student Canteen in the Philippines and he was the Bobbe Vee for the day. He loved to sing Journey songs but his most favorite of all time was, “You Make Me Feel Brand New” by SIMPLY RED. He also played instruments like guitar and ukulele. He loved to dress up nicely wearing his jewelries, strong scents of cologne, and fashionable attires and got excited to attend parties with friends and loved ones.
He was so generous to almost anyone that needed help. He would help as much as he could, even giving up the last penny in his pocket if someone was in need. He was so empathetic to the less fortunate and always willing to help them in any way he could.
Angel loved to dine out once the work week ended on Friday nights and weekends. He enjoyed eating steak, burgers, fries, pizzas, tacos, and all kinds of foods. He always drank a wine or beer with his meals and loved drinking his Pepsi. He entertained himself watching American movies, war documentaries, boxing, and sports on TV. He was a big fan of Manny Pacquiao, the great Filipino boxer of all time, as he said, who he highly adored because of his humble personality. He also loved watching and supporting his local sports teams like the Warriors, 49ers and of course the Raiders, when they were winning. Angel actively worked out with his Eskrima martial arts team, “Cacoy Cañete Doce Pares Nor Cal” with Masters Jr and Wally which he looked forward to attending every Sunday in San Leandro. Angel received a Certification of Promotion to ranking of 1st Degree Black Belt on 12/1/2023.
Angel leaves behind his wife Meriam, who he was happily married to for more than 20 years. She was the love of his life as he always said “Kawanan Katan Tuloy” meaning, “I Love You Very Much!” They were together since 1998. Angel raised his two stepchildren Allister and Samantha since they were six and five years old with wife Meriam. Angel is survived by his two adult children, Aaron, and his wife Liz, and his daughter Nikki, and partner Jeff. He has grandchildren, Evan, Mia, Adi and Faith. He also has step- grandchildren Jose and little Aaron. He has nephews, nieces, great grandchildren, and lots of cousins. He leaves behind his sister Dotty and her husband Rey Canio; and brother-in-law Ernie Leyson. Angel will be joining his other siblings Lenny, Alvin, Allan, and parents Luisa and Angel Sr. Angel believed family isn’t always blood, it’s the people in his life who wanted to spend time with him. The ones who accepted him the way he was. The ones who would do anything for him to see him smile, happy, and to love him unconditionally no matter what. Angel endlessly loved his family so dearly.
Angel Gallardo Salinas was 77 years old when he passed away on 12/28/2023. He will be deeply missed by his good friends, colleagues, and most of all, his family and loved ones. He brought so much light and joy to each and every one in his life. Angel, you will stay forever in our hearts. We love you so much our dear Angel and as family would call him, Boy Salinas, the good-looking guy!
