Amado Songcuan Untalan
Amado Songcuan Untalan, born on June 3, 1941, in Samon, Sta Maria Pangasinan, passed away on April 26, 2024, at KP Vacaville Hospital. He was the beloved son of Bernardo Untalan and Adela Songcuan, both of whom preceded him in death. Amado was the second of six siblings: Pablo (deceased), Ernesto, Mercedes, Manuel, and Leonida.
Amado received his education at Samon Sta Maria Pangasinan and later attended Rosales National High School. He pursued higher education and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of the East. Following his graduation, he embarked on a career as an Accountant at Capitol Sawmill.
In 1969, Amado married the love of his life, Lisa Ocampo, and they were blessed with a daughter, Sheila Marie, born on December 16, 1970. Together, they migrated to New York City in April 1972 as third-preference immigrants. After a brief period, Lisa joined Amado in August 1972, settling in California due to the presence of loved ones. They purchased their first home in Union City, where their son, Amado Jay, was born.
Throughout his career, Amado held various accounting positions, including roles at Clorox Co, Universal Anchor, and OOCL USA. He retired after serving as a Receiving Supervisor at Longs Drug Store.
Amado was a devoted parishioner of St. Isidore's Church in Danville for 30 years. He was instrumental in forming Fapsi in 1999, a mission comprised of Filipino parishioners, and tirelessly worked towards its success. He and his family generously contributed to various charitable causes, including Loaves & Fishes, where Lisa volunteered to help the less fortunate.
In addition to his philanthropic endeavors, Amado was an avid traveler who explored pilgrimage sites around the world, including Fatima, Lourdes, and Our Lady of Guadalupe. He also participated in significant religious events such as the Oberammergau Passion Play and the Holy Land Tour.
Amado cherished time spent with family and friends, whether it was attending high school reunions or embarking on adventures across Asia, Europe, and beyond. In 2017, he moved to Dublin to live with his children and continued to worship at St. Isidore and St. Elizabeth Churches.
Amado will be remembered for his zest for life, generosity, and unwavering faith. He leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and compassion that will continue to inspire all who knew him.
He lived life to the fullest and will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Amado is survived by his wife Lisa, daughter Sheila, son Jay, two sisters, two brothers and many nephews, nieces, and friends.
