Alvida Velez's Obituary
VELEZAlvida was born in Kohala, Hawaii on June 15, 1909, the third of eighteen children. She was raised in Honolulu, married Tom Negrones, and bore him four children, two daughters and two sons. Eventually she moved to California and lived most of the time in Hayward. Later she married Jose Velez. She was ninety-six years old and enjoyed life. Alvida loved music and learned to play the piano at the age of eighty-two. She also belonged to a senior citizen Ukulele group who performed together on many occasions. She loved to sew, crochet, knit and had a great sense of humor, a beautiful smile, and laugh. Alvida had many friends and will be missed. She loved reading the Bible and was baptized a Jehovah's Witness, seventy-two years ago. One of her favorite scriptures was Rev. 21:4, which reads, 'And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will be mourning, nor outcry, nor pain anymore, the former things have passed away.' Alvida is survived by daughters, Margaret Curette of San Francisco, Trudie Ledward of San Leandro,; sons, Gil (Barbara) Negrones of San Leandro, David (Glenda) Negrones of Bremerton, WA; Sisters, Mary Rodrigues of CA, Jane Carreira of HI, Louise Ramos of CA, Hattie Adsuara of CA, Beatrice Cabinatan of HI, Helen Costa of HI; Brothers, Ray Pagan of HI, Daniel Pagan of HI, Jesse Pagan of CA, Fermin Pagan of CA; fourteen grandchildren, thirty-three great-grandchildren and one great, great-grandchild. Visitation is Sunday, May 14 from 4:30-8:30 PM and an hour before the service. Funeral Service, Monday 1:00 PM at the CHAPEL OF THE CHIMES 32992 Mission Blvd., Hayward. Interment to follow service.
