Alice Riley Jordan's Obituary
Our beloved Alice Louise Riley Jordan passed away peacefully at home on March 27th, at the age of 81. Alice was born January 27, 1942, in Louisiana. She came to live in California at age three. She was the eldest of 8 children and loved to roam around and explore the ranch where they lived. She also liked to slip away and go wading in the Pacific Ocean near the mouth of the Salinas River. Alice attended Castroville Elementary School and Salinas High School. After graduating from high school, she attended Highland School of Nursing in Oakland, California and graduated as a registered nurse in August 1962. After graduating from nursing school, she worked 4 years as a hospital nurse, 14 years in outpatient clinics and 15 years as a school nurse. Alice also received a Bachelor of Science and Nursing degree and shortly thereafter, a master’s degree in Public Health Nursing. After thirty-three years of nursing, in 2001 she started a new career as an early childhood educator. She worked in that field for 22 years.
Alice will always be remembered for her lovely smile and generous heart. Her laughter was easy and could be contagious. She was a compassionate person who was always willing to assist others. Alice kept a soft place in her heart for those in need, particularly young children and the elderly.
Alice loved reading newspapers cover-to-cover or nursing and child care materials, gardening, watching the latest news on television, doing word puzzles, dancing and music.
Alice is predeceased by her husband of 30 years Eldridge Jordan, Jr., her parents Luigi and Audra Favero, her younger brothers Luigi and Arthur.
She is survived by her brother John and wife Philayna, sister Linda and husband Wayne, brother Gino, brother Peter and wife Beth, sister Cheryl and husband Rodney, step daughters Stacy and Kimberly, granddaughters Tatiana, Jessica, Risha and Enisha, grandsons Michael and Millard, great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins.
Alice will be greatly missed and will always have a special place in our hearts. It is with heavy hearts, the fondest memories, and as much love as possible that we bid farewell to Alice, our sister, aunt, cousin, stepmother, grandma and friend.
