Alice Bettencourt ObituaryOn the evening of November 10, 2016, Alice passed away peacefully of natural causes. Alice was surrounded and comforted by her family members at a home care facility in Hayward, CA at the time of her passing. Alice was 89 years old.Alice was born in Providence, Rhode Island on October 8, 1927. She was the oldest daughter of Mary and Alberto Norberto.Alice came to California with her parents when she was 17. She started working at Sunshine Biscuits where she met Tony Bettencourt, the man she would soon marry. Tony and Alice were married for over 60 years and had 5 children: Diana Snyder, Ron Bettencourt, Steve Bettencourt, Sue Keever, and Deborah Allan.Alice and Tony were involved in Portuguese fraternal organizations of St. Anthony’s, SES, UPEC, and IDES for over 50 years. Alice enjoyed her involvement in these societies and held positions of Supreme Governor and Supreme Inspector. She loved going to official visits, fiestas, casino trips, and other events of her council in San Lorenzo. In earlier years Alice and Tony loved taking trips in their motor home, or cruising throughout Europe, Caribbean, and Alaska.Alice was preceded in death by her husband Tony Bettencourt, daughter-in-law Marcy Bettencourt, son-in-law John Keever, and grandson Daniel Snyder.Alice is survived by 8 grandchildren: Cindy Short, Sandy Kashitani, (Daniel Snyder), Kim Diaz, Eric Bettencourt, Sarina Sommers, Jennifer Wold, and Tiffany Pimentel; and 11 great grandchildren: Justyn Snyder, Jordan Kashitani, Branden White, Gabriel Diaz, Marcie Diaz, Hannah Bettencourt, Jason Bettencourt, Dylan Sommers, Haley Wold, Logan Wold, and Jason Pimentel. Alice was very proud of her children and loved them very much.We will miss our mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, and will always love her as much as she loved us. She is now at peace with other family members who have gone before her and will shower us with love from above.
