Alfred James Palmerino's Obituary
Alfred James Palmerino passed away on Saturday, August 23, 2025 in Fremont, California, at the age of 84. Alfred and his twin brother, were born to Francis and Josephine Palmerino on May 28, 1941 in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania. Alfred was the youngest child, following his seven sisters and four brothers.
Alfred joined the Navy right out of high school, and his interests led him to air traffic control. After his discharge from the Navy, he spent several years working in the steel mills in Pennsylvania, and was eventually hired by the Federal Aviation Administration. He worked for the FAA in Ohio for ten years before transferring to the FAA Air Traffic Control Center in Fremont. He loved the job of controlling aircraft. After his career ended with the FAA, he went to work for his sister, who had a medical billing service, where he worked until he retired.
Alfred is survived by his wife, Tomi Palmerino, and his three children, Norma VanVolkinburg, Nanette Cook and Jacob Palmerino, and his last surviving sister, Roseanne Fallara. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Travis, Madison, Peyton, Ava and Colton, and great-grandchildren Kaelyn and Ruby. And also nieces, nephews and cousins along with many great friends.
Alfred was admired as a man of character, kindness, and wisdom. He was not only a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, but also a wonderful uncle and loyal friend to many. His love for his family was evident in every aspect of his life, and those who knew him will remember his warmth humor, and generous spirit.
Alfred’s legacy is one of love, family and community— a life well-lived and a man well-loved. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by his family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know him.
